In collaboration with ortofon, bird sounds present monthly backroom listening sessions. Featuring local and international artists, DJs and producers, audiences will be guided through intimate journeys by sound and conversation. Limited seats available.
For more than 30 years, Thomas Knak has been a natural part the Danish electronic music scene. He began mixing elements of Ambient, Drum ´n´ Bass, Dub and Electronica in the club circuit in the early 1990´s… Later presenting these genres via his weekly radio show at Danish National Broadcasting Corporation, between 1995 and 2000.
Thomas are known for his solo production and remix work as Opiate, and for his many collaborate projects, such as Future 3 and System (with Dub Tractor and Acustic), Opto (with Alva Noto) and Bro/Knak (with composer and musician, Jakob Bro).
His debut album “Objects for an ideal world" is of blend of academic traditions, such as Musique concrète, rhythmic inspiration from Drum ´n´ Bass and melodic material from folk and pop music creating Electronica. When released in 1999, the album caught the attention of high profile musicians such as Alva Noto, Bomb The Bass, Bjork and Ryuichi Sakamoto, with whom he all later worked with. This resulted in his minimal compositional work and quirky productions travel around the world, leading to new audiences and concerts in most of Europe, Parts of China and Japan, UK and US.
Thomas is no stranger to sound design, composing and producing music for film, dance, theatre and visual art. For his work and contribution to electronic music in Denmark, Thomas was appointed a lifetime honorarium from the Danish Art Foundation in 2023.
